Ingebjørg Finnbakk is a senior adviser in the Global Programme at Norwegian Centre for Conflict Resolution NOREF. She currently leads NOREF’s work on geopolitical dialogue and Horn of Africa. Before joining NOREF, Ms. Finnbakk has several years of experience in engaging with high level political and armed actors through dialogue and peace processes in the Great Lakes Region with the European Institute of Peace and the UN Peacekeeping mission (MONUSCO). From 2016-2019, she was deployed to Ituri Province, eastern DRC, and played a key role in initiating and designing an inclusive political peace process between the most significant armed group (FRPI) in the area and the national government resulting in an official peace agreement signed on February 28 2020. Ingebjørg Finnbakk has also worked on conflict related sexual violence (CRSV) and the women, peace, and security (WPS) agenda at the Peace Research Institute Oslo and with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Oslo.
