Tiina Jortikka-Laitinen currently works as Ambassador for Human Rights at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Previously, she has served as Ambassador of Finland to Spain and Andorra, Ambassador-at-Large for Euro-Mediterranean and MENA region (2015-2017), and Ambassador of Finland to Tunisia and Libya (2010-2013). She has also served as Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy for Ebola and as Ambassador for Countering Radicalization, Violent Extremism and Terrorism. She has been director of the International Environmental Policy in the MFA (2007-2010) and deputy director of the Civilian Crisis Management (2005-2007). Since 2010, she has been engaged in informal dialogue processes focusing on the MENA region, e.g. the Helsinki Policy Forum. She has extensive experience of co-operation with women’s civil society organizations, in particular in the MENA region, and been actively involved in promoting the inclusion of the gender dimension in international climate and environmental policy. She has done post-graduate studies at the Ecole National d´Administration in Paris.
