Rita Furuseth Sandberg is Minister Counsellor/Deputy Head of Mission at the Norwegian Embassy in Amman. Between 2016-2019 she was heading a unit for Organizational Management and Restructuring at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to this position, Ms. Sandberg served for four years as the deputy special envoy to the Colombian peace talks with the FARC and the ELN in the Ministry’s Section for Peace and Reconciliation. As a Norwegian Diplomat, Ms. Sandberg also has experience from conflict resolution and peace and reconciliation work from Southeast Asia and the Horn of Africa. Ms. Sandberg has previously served at the Norwegian Embassies in Thailand, Uganda and Belgium. Former work experience includes the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI). She holds an MA in international relations from the University of Oslo (2001), as well as an MA in European Political studies from the College of Europe, Bruges (2000) and a BA in political science and French, University of Oslo (1998).
