Tahmina Salik
Tahmina Salik is a Danish–Afghan women’s rights advocate, mediator, and WPS practitioner. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Empowerment for Her, a Denmark-based organisation working to advance Afghan women’s political and economic participation, including in peace and political processes.
She is the founder of the Red Lipstick Campaign (#MyLipsMyVoice), a global initiative highlighting Afghan women’s resistance to Taliban repression.
Her work focuses on gender equality, peacebuilding, and accountability for gender-based crimes, including the recognition of gender apartheid. She is a member of the Afghan Women Leaders Forum (AWLF), an EU-supported platform advancing Afghan women’s participation and protection in peace and political processes, and a leading advocate within the United Against Gender Apartheid Campaign.
Tahmina engages with international policy processes and has contributed to advocacy efforts at the United Nations and the European Parliament. She has provided expert input to the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights and participated in high-level dialogues in Geneva and New York, including as part of the Danish delegation to the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
